RITUAL
Pact Theatre
17th October 2024

This was a journey into the unknown, I had littl idea what to expect arriving at PACT Theatre in the back streets of Erskineville. Before entering it is to teh audience that the Ritual show is an immersive experience, and that ushers will give silently guesture three different commands in the theatre; sit, stand and spread out. This really just added to the confusion.

Inside the large open spaced theatre are two rows of a dozen two-foot by two-foot white boxes through the middle, there is no stage and no seating. Space is dark, and one performer in dramatic long red shirt, white long sleeved body suit, and power covering her face and tightly bunned hair sits motionless on a box.

Over the next hour the audience is trust into a sureal world exploring the concepts of ritual and ceremony, of secret societies and cults, where the lines between performer and audience blur and blend into a singular movement of participant.

Blending infectious beats and industrial sounds, the all female ensemble dance group encourages you to let go, feel the subtle messaging to enter your mind and allow the part dance party, part distopean Handmaids performance to wash over you.

Ritual is a must see experience.
